Meet your Art Advisor, Signe Sylvester
Why I work with art
My practice is rooted in the belief that art reflects the world we live in. It allows us to see differently, understand ourselves and others more deeply, and expand our capacity for empathy. In a time shaped by increasing division and digital echo chambers, I see art as a space for perspective, complexity and connection.
This is what guides my work.
I do not represent artists or work from a fixed inventory. Instead, I draw on a broad network of independent artists across Denmark to create thoughtful, context-based connections between artworks, people and spaces. My independence ensures that every recommendation is guided by relevance, quality and context rather than commercial obligation.
For private clients, this means working with art that resonates both personally and spatially.
For workplaces and businesses, it means art that supports identity, atmosphere and shared experience.
For public and private institutions, it means creating meaningful and context-aware encounters between art, people and place.
Professional background
My professional background spans both the commercial and curatorial sides of the art world, including running an independent gallery from 2015 to 2018, where I worked closely with artists, collectors and buyers.
I have since worked as an advisor and educator for independent artists, focusing on professional development and artistic practice, which has given me a deep understanding of artistic processes, motivations and working conditions.
As a freelancer, I have led and curated commissioned art projects in both institutional and organizational contexts, requiring close dialogue with stakeholders and a strong sensitivity to place, people and purpose.
